Taxi boss Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni and three co-accused are expected to return to the Delmas Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday over allegations that they demanded more than R2.2 million in protection fees from a mining businessman.
Sibanyoni faces extortion and money laundering charges alongside Bafana “King of the Sky” Sindane, Daniel Masilela and Philemon Msiza.
The case has been delayed by a dispute over the State’s charge sheet, with the defence accusing prosecutors of failing to provide the final document at the previous court appearance.
The outstanding charge sheet has raised questions about the case’s progress, with further proceedings expected when the four accused return to court.
The allegations concern protection-fee demands made over several years.
Separately, Sindane is challenging his obligation to appear before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry after refusing to participate.
A court ruled against his challenge, meaning he is required to appear before the commission.
