Beachfront Property for R550 000
In most towns, a beachfront property costs millions.
Even a small slice of oceanfront land is upwards of R1 million in most areas across South Africa’s vast coast.
Yet, in one small town, you can live stone-throwing distance from the beach for only R550 000.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
The property, in Mtwalume, was listed on 17 September 2026. One plot is 1 893 square metres, and the adjoining parcel is 3 181 square metres.
Rates are R400.
But because the plot is on sale for R550 000, you can get a land loan for 80% of the land’s value.
This means the loan will cover R440 000 and you need to provide the remaining R110 000 in cash.
Where else can you get affordable seaside property?
According to a report by The South African, buyers can get a beachfront property for R600 000 in Port Nolloth on the Namaqua Coast.

In Summer, Mtwalume remains pleasant, with an average temperature of 28°C in December.
