Golden State Valkyries star Veronica Burton’s father expressed delight after seeing four-time NBA champion Steph Curry wear his daughter’s practice jersey.
The Valkyries’ guard has been a pivotal part of the team that finished second in the regular season and powered through tough competition in the playoffs to make it to their first-ever WNBA Finals.
Burton has been brilliant in clutch moments for the team. Her three-pointer in Game 2 against the Las Vegas Aces ensured the Valkyries took a 2-0 lead in the series. The 26-year-old has also been a defensive stalwart for the team and helped Gabby Williams significantly in making the Valkyries a top defensive unit in the league.
Her star has risen since she came into the league, especially due to her big performances, which has led to recognition from fans and analysts; this time, however, it has come from a superstar in Steph Curry.

The Golden State Warriors were playing the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday in the final preseason game of the 2026-27 season. Curry, who was set to start, was seen warming up, donning the No. 22 jersey of Veronica Burton in support of the Valkyries guard.
“This is pretty surreal. My favorite NBA player, Steph Curry, is warming up in my daughter’s jersey. GO VALKS!!!” wrote Steve Burton on X.
The Valkyries and Warriors are owned by Joe Lacob, which is why, throughout the WNBA season, there has been a lot of support for Burton and her teammates.
The Natalie Nakase coached team will head into Game 1 against the Atlanta Dream on Saturday in front of an energized Ballhalla arena. Burton will be hoping to use the motivation from seeing Curry wear her jersey and put in a big performance for the Valkyries and help the franchise win their first-ever championship.
