Juventus continue to face several problems that are preventing them from reaching the level they want to achieve, with their inability to keep clean sheets emerging as a major concern. Despite their status as one of the leading clubs in Serie A, the Bianconeri have struggled to find the consistency required to compete at the level they expect of themselves.
The team has remained competitive throughout the campaign, demonstrating that they possess the quality to perform well. However, their inconsistent displays have raised questions about their ability to maintain control of matches, particularly when opponents manage to score first.
Conceding the opening goal has become an increasingly familiar problem for Juventus in recent weeks. Even when they appear to be playing reasonably well, defensive lapses continue to undermine their efforts and make matches more difficult than they should be.
The club have worked to address these shortcomings, but the same problems keep resurfacing. Juventus have several talented defenders who should be capable of preventing such goals, yet individual mistakes and a lack of protection in front of the back line have continued to expose them.
Juventus struggle to address defensive weaknesses
The repeated concessions have become a source of frustration, especially because some of the goals appear avoidable. Juventus are expected to defend more effectively given the quality of their squad, but their performances have not consistently reflected those expectations.
Massimo Orlando has followed the team since the beginning of the season and has expressed his confusion over the nature of the goals they continue to concede. Speaking via Tuttomercatoweb, he questioned their defensive organisation and highlighted problems in midfield.
He said: “I heard Spalletti say he doesn’t know why they found themselves behind. Juve gives this impression, sometimes conceding unexpected goals, even when they’re playing reasonably well. And goals that, given the defense Juve have, they shouldn’t have conceded. In my opinion, Juve have a quality problem in midfield and a lack of coverage. Woltemade did well up front, but it’s a Juve that concedes goals you can’t explain.”

Midfield protection remains a concern
Orlando’s assessment suggests that Juventus’ defensive struggles cannot be blamed solely on their defenders. The lack of adequate protection from midfield could be allowing opponents to create dangerous situations too easily, leaving the back line exposed despite the quality available.
Luciano Spalletti must therefore find a way to improve the team’s overall defensive structure. Until Juventus address these recurring problems, their ambitions could continue to be undermined by goals that leave even experienced observers searching for explanations.
