Two minor boys, who are cousins, went missing on October 6 in Malda.
The boys — Biswajit Mondal, 16, a Class IX student of Nagaria High School, and Prosenjit Mondal, 13, a Class VI student of Bangitola High School — are residents of Goshaipur under Binodpur panchayat within the Englishbazar police station limits.
Sources said that on October 6, they left home together to attend tuition classes with a private tutor in the Amriti area of Englishbazar. They did not return home.
The families could not trace them. They filed complaints with the police. An investigation is in progress.
Gold theft arrests
A team from the Malda district police arrested two women from Calcutta's Esplanade on Monday and recovered a stolen gold chain weighing 12gm, worth ₹1.72 lakh, from them.
Anupam Singh, the Malda SP, said the duo were Sonia Yasmin and Mumtaz Bibi. Allegedly, they stole the chain from a Malda jewellery shop.
Sonia is a resident of Matia within Basirhat police district limits in North 24-Parganas. Mumtaz is from Smith Lane within the Taltala police station limits in Calcutta. “Both women have links with a gang operating from Bihar. In Malda, they were staying in a rented house to carry out thefts during the festive rush,” the SP said.
