Brandy Plays Cape Town on 14 December

EXPATS & NOMADS · CAPE TOWN

The American R&B singer headlines this year’s All White Soul Sessions show in Cape Town on a Monday night in mid-December, with two more dates in Pretoria later that week.

Brandy, the American R&B singer behind “The Boy Is Mine” and “Have You Ever?”, performs at the Grand Arena at GrandWest in Cape Town on Monday 14 December 2026. The Brandy Cape Town 2026 show is part of the All White Soul Sessions concert series, and tickets start at R1,450 (about US$88) through Webtickets, the official seller named by the venue.

For a US visitor the date falls at the start of the southern summer, a popular time to visit Cape Town, so it is worth booking flights and rooms early. Americans need no visa for a stay of under 90 days.

The main traps are buying from a reseller and leaving the transfer back to the city until after the encore.

What the Show Is and Why It Matters

GrandWest lists the night as “All White Soul Sessions | Brandy”, organised by Remoakantse Holdings, with Brandy as the headline act. The venue’s page names songs from across her career, from “Sittin’ Up in My Room” and “Almost Doesn’t Count” to “Never Say Never”.

No support acts have been announced.

The series is not new. Eyewitness News, the South African broadcaster, reported on 15 July that the 2026 edition follows a sold-out All White Soul Sessions tour in 2025 that featured Babyface.

The same report said Brandy’s first trip to South Africa was in 2018, when she headlined the Macufe Divas Concert in Bloemfontein, and quoted her as saying: “I’m so excited to be coming back to South Africa.”

Cape Town is the first of three South African dates. Brandy then plays the SunBet Arena at Time Square in Pretoria on Thursday 17 and Friday 18 December.

Sun International, which runs both venues, lists the Pretoria shows from R950 (about US$57) per person, and Webtickets shows Pretoria prices up to R2,850 (about US$172). That makes Cape Town the more expensive entry point, and the only coastal date.

December is a crowded month for American soul and R&B acts in the city. GrandWest hosts Kehlani three days later, on Thursday 17 December; see Kehlani Plays Pretoria 15 December and Cape Town 17 December.

Earlier in the season, Jill Scott plays GrandWest on 11 November; see Jill Scott Plays Pretoria and Cape Town in November, First Album in a Decade.

The Venue and How to Get There

GrandWest is a casino and entertainment complex run by Sun International, the South African hotel and casino group. Besides the Grand Arena it has a hotel, restaurants from fast food to sit-down dining, a ten-pin bowling alley and what it calls the only indoor ice rink in the Western Cape.

Webtickets gives the arena’s address as 1 Jakes Gerwel Drive, Acacia Park.

Based on the map coordinates GrandWest publishes, the complex sits roughly 11 km east of the city centre and about 8 km from Cape Town International Airport, measured in a straight line. In practice that means a short ride-hailing trip from the airport and a longer one from the Atlantic seaboard hotels in Sea Point or Camps Bay, depending on traffic.

For a Monday evening show, the simplest plan for a visitor is to book a ride-hailing car both ways and to agree a pickup point before the show ends, because demand peaks the moment an arena empties. Visitors who stay at the hotel on site avoid the transfer entirely.

Under-18s are not allowed on the gaming floor; the venue has not published an age limit for the concert itself.

Tips for US and Foreign Visitors

Entry. The US State Department’s South Africa page says a visa is not required for stays of less than 90 days, that passports must be valid for 30 days after you leave, and that you need two consecutive completely blank visa pages on arrival, not counting endorsement pages. South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs lists the United States as visa exempt for 90 days in its list issued on 9 December 2025.

Yellow fever vaccination is only required for travellers arriving from countries the World Health Organization designates. Families should check the separate Home Affairs rules for minors before booking.

Money. The South African Reserve Bank put the rand at R16.5423 per US dollar on 12 October 2026, the rate used for every conversion in this guide. At that rate Cape Town tickets cost R1,450 (about US$88) to R1,950 (about US$118).

Webtickets sells online, so a US card is enough to buy a ticket before you travel.

Tickets. GrandWest says tickets are sold exclusively through Webtickets and at Pick n Pay supermarkets. It warns that tickets bought from Viagogo or other secondary resellers are treated as fraudulent: holders will be turned away and will not be refunded.

Buy from the official seller only, and keep the confirmation e-mail on your phone.

Safety. The State Department rates South Africa at Level 2, “exercise increased caution”, in an advisory issued on 27 May 2025. Its guidance focuses on crime and on townships, which it advises visitors to avoid unless with someone who knows the area.

At night in Cape Town, use a booked car rather than walking between venues, and keep phones out of sight in the car. Earlier this month the government deployed the army in Durban, on the other side of the country, after protests; see South Africa Sends Army to Durban After Days of Unrest.

Timing. South Africa runs on South African Standard Time, seven hours ahead of New York in December. The concert falls two days before 16 December, the Day of Reconciliation public holiday.

Book flights and accommodation early.

What Is Not Confirmed Yet

Webtickets lists the Cape Town show at 18:00 on Monday 14 December, but neither the seller nor GrandWest says whether that is the door time or the start of the concert. Webtickets shows prices from R1,450 (about US$88) to R1,950 (about US$118); what each tier includes is not described on the venue page.

It is also not clear whether the “All White” title is a dress code. The venue’s page does not state one.

No opening acts, set length or age limit for the concert have been announced. We found no prediction market on the show on Polymarket or Kalshi.
