Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto highlighted the government's target of disbursing up to Rp400 trillion (more than US$22 billion) in loans in 2027 to boost the productivity of 28 million beneficiary families.
Speaking at the National Coordination Meeting of Regional Financial Access Acceleration Teams (TPAKD) in Jakarta on Thursday, he said the lending program is expected to reach various segments of society.
Prabowo noted that the government is targeting farmers, fishers, rural communities, low-income urban residents, and people living in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions.
The loans are projected to benefit around 100 million Indonesians nationwide, assuming an average of four people per family, he added.
He also emphasized the government's commitment to placing public welfare at the center of its economic policy direction, stressing the importance of strengthening household purchasing power.
"The nation's true economic strength must be genuinely felt by the people: by farmers in villages; by fishers in coastal regions; by merchants at markets; by micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs); and by mothers striving to support their families' finances," Prabowo affirmed.
In this regard, the president urged all government institutions to translate public welfare goals into concrete measures.
"True welfare is reflected in real increases in people's income. Every family must have real purchasing power. This is what we are fighting for," he remarked.
On the same occasion, Prabowo praised the Financial Services Authority (OJK), ministries, and regional governments for enabling the establishment of TPAKDs in all provinces, districts, and cities by the end of 2024.
He also symbolically marked the disbursement of Rp53.15 trillion (approximately US$3 billion) in loans to around 2.1 million debtors, including MSMEs, farmers, fishers, and entrepreneurs from various sectors.
