BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran on Tuesday criticised the TVK-led government over the alleged suicide of an undertrial admitted to the Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital while in police custody.
Expressing shock over the incident, he called for stringent action against the police personnel involved in the incident. “The suicide of an undertrial, who was taken to the court and who was in police custody, has raised several doubts. Why was there a failure in monitoring the individual who was in the police custody round the clock?” he asked.
Mr. Nagenthran further criticised the administration of the police force by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, the lack of safety for individuals under police custody, and the alleged deterioration of law and order.
