All eight Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have indefinitely postponed the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Annual-II Examinations 2026 for the second time, citing the prevailing emergency situation.
The decision applies across the province, including the merged tribal districts.
The examinations were scheduled to begin simultaneously on Monday, October 12. Each board issued a separate notification suspending the papers until further orders.
The boards said a revised schedule will be announced later. Students, parents and educational institutions have been asked to follow official announcements from their respective boards.
The exams were first postponed when the first four papers, due to start on October 7, were deferred because of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march. The rescheduled start date of October 12 has now also been cancelled.
Closures of educational institutions varied across the province. Local administrations in Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshehra, Charsadda, Swat, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Bannu and Karak closed public and private schools, colleges and universities on Monday.
Schools remained open in Kohat, Hangu, Orakzai and Kurram, while Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST) stayed closed.
