The Parliamentary Select Committee on Works and Housing has undertaken a monitoring visit to assess ongoing flood control and recovery projects.
The committee also evaluated their impact on affected communities, and examined measures to strengthen flood resilience and disaster preparedness.
Accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Works and Housing and the Ghana Hydrological Authority, the Committee inspected projects at Adenta New Legon, the Abokobi wetlands, Weija, and Abeka.
At Adenta New Legon, construction of culverts and storm drains is progressing.
However, at Abokobi, Weija and Abeka, the first phase of the dredging projects have been completed.
Committee Chairman, Hon. Vincent Asamoah, commended the contractors for the progress made within the stipulated period.
He pledged to engage the government on the release of funds and called for increased allocation to the Ministry of Works and Housing in the 2027 Budget to support the completion of critical flood control projects.
