MSCI Drops Strategy from Global Indexes
MSCI has finalized new rules for non-operating companies that could cost Strategy and Metaplanet their place in global equity indexes. On November 11, 2026, the index provider will announce which firms actually drop out.
MSCI calculates equity indexes that passive funds and ETFs track. When the provider adds or removes a stock, these funds consequently buy or sell automatically. Its Global Investable Market Indexes form the basis of the well-known MSCI World and ACWI families.
In October 2025, MSCI originally proposed excluding firms with at least 50% of their balance sheet in digital assets. The plan would have hit 39 companies in total.
It flagged Strategy, Metaplanet, and UK uranium holder Yellow Cake as potential deletions.

LayerZero Surged 23%
LayerZero earlier lost the USD 2 support and fell to a low of USD 1.8; the token made a strong comeback amid a broader market trend reversal. The altcoin successfully defended the USD 2 level and climbed to a local high of USD 2.25, after gaining 23%.
The market largely recovered, driven by renewed interest in derivatives. The altcoin’s Open Interest (OI) surged 31% to USD 275 million, while the derivatives volume rose 63% to USD 336 million. The rising OI alongside volume implied increased market participation and steady capital flow into new positions. Meanwhile, altcoins’ Long/Short Ratio rose above 1 across all tracked exchanges.
Ethereum Rebounds 4%
Ethereum price has recovered more than 4% to approximately USD 2,462 on October 16, following a drop toward USD 2,325 as traders examine whether declining exchange reserves can support another attempt to break above USD 2,550.
Ethereum (ETH) trades at USD 2,460 as of writing, with a market capitalization of approximately USD 300.6 billion and daily trading volume of USD 14.38 billion. The cryptocurrency traded between USD 2,324.97 and USD 2,463.31 over the previous 24 hours, recovering much of Thursday’s losses.
The rebound followed stronger-than-expected US inflation figures that triggered selling across cryptocurrencies and technology stocks. Crypto analyst Alex Marzell identified USD 2,324 as the level where selling pressure eased following the US producer inflation report.
Polygon Fixes Bugs
The Polygon team fixes bugs across its mainnet execution architecture following the release of an update for the Bor client on October 15.
The technical intervention resolved two medium-severity vulnerabilities that allowed valid, low-gas transactions to consume disproportionate computational resources across validator nodes. The incident directly involved BlockSTM V2, the subsystem responsible for parallel execution within the Polygon Proof of Stake (PoS) network.
In this client, incoming blocks are processed through two simultaneous channels: a serial path and a parallel path, adopting the result from whichever finishes first. Internal tests demonstrated that transactions containing repeated code hashing took tens of milliseconds via serial execution.
