VIGILS FOR HELEN HAINES
A series of local vigils were held for independent MP Helen Haines last night as she remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition.
The 65-year-old’s husband Phil Haines yesterday revealed her second leg had been amputated after she was struck by a car outside her electorate office in Wangaratta.
He said her recovery would be “long and difficult… but we know she is a fighter, she is a determined person to do her best, with our support and love, to recover.
