Oklahoma City Thunder center Chet Holmgren has been commenting on having to play what he described as ‘tanking’ teams in December.
The NBA season is back underway this week and fans are no doubt excited to see their sides in action.
However, during a recent interview, Holmgren has suggested he would rather have a night off instead of playing struggling teams midway through the season.
Fans unhappy with Chet Holmgren’s ‘tanking’ teams comment
As quoted by NBABase on X, when commenting on playing bottom-tier teams in the regular season, he said: “You don’t get extra excited to play a tanking team in December.
“A lot of times you’re like, ‘F***. Why don’t we just get a f****** night off instead of having to play [this team].”
A number of fans have since responded to Holmgren’s comments and are not overly happy.
One wrote: “Losers mentality,” with a second stating: “Enjoy getting traded to Charlotte.”
A third tweeted: “I hate this guy so much,” while another responded: “The dude is begging to be replaced by Mara and be shipped out to the Kings.”
“Humble up dude,” responded another NBA fan, with a sixth writing: “This for real? S*** karma about to get you.”
Oklahoma are now set to kick off their NBA campaign on Tuesday evening against the San Antonio Spurs and Holmgren is expected to feature.
He had a quad issue during preseason but is now thought to be available for the start of the 2026/27 season.
