KUALA LUMPUR: Hospitality amenities and consumer products provider NWE Resources Group Bhd made a strong debut on the Ace Market of Bursa Malaysia today, opening at 22 sen, a 10 per cent premium over its initial public offering (IPO) price of 20 sen.
The stock opened with a trading volume of 22.6 million shares, valuing the group at RM118.8 million based on its enlarged share capital of 540 million shares.
NWE Resources raised RM28.6 million through its public issue.
The company operates three business segments, namely the business-to-business supply of hospitality amenities to four- and five-star hotels and resorts, distribution of personal care products and health foods and the formulation and supply of health foods to suppliers and brand owners.
Its independent non-executive chairman, Tunku Zain Al-'Abidin ibni Tuanku Muhriz, said the group's listing came at an opportune time, with Budget 2027 measures expected to support demand across its businesses.
He said the allocation of RM935 million for tourism and culture, alongside the extension of the Visit Malaysia campaign into 2027, could support hotel occupancy and demand for hospitality amenities.
Financially, NWE Resources recorded revenue of RM10.6 million and profit after tax of RM2.8 million for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026.
Group managing director Tan Hong Huat said all three business segments contributed meaningfully to revenue in the first quarter, while customer portfolio optimisation and a shift towards higher-margin products supported profitability.
"With the IPO proceeds, we will develop new health food and skincare formulations, expand our R&D and in-house manufacturing capabilities, and open a new sales office in Johor to grow our presence in the southern region," he added.
The company also plans to expand its consumer reach through live e-commerce and exhibitions, with the initiatives expected to broaden its product range, improve cost efficiency and margins, and attract more customers.
Of the RM28.6 million raised, RM9.1 million, or 31.9 per cent, has been allocated for new product development, while RM1.2 million, or four per cent, will go towards expanding R&D capabilities.
Another RM4.6 million, or 16 per cent, is earmarked for marketing and promotional activities, while RM900,000, or 3.3 per cent, will fund the purchase of a rooftop solar system and transportation fleets.
The group has also allocated RM600,000, or 2.1 per cent, to establish its Johor sales office and RM8.2 million, or 28.7 per cent, for working capital.
The remaining RM4 million, or 14 per cent, will cover estimated listing expenses.
