Dubai: Business aviation in the UAE is creating new opportunities in maintenance and fleet management. Infrastructure investment and specialised services continue to strengthen the country's competitiveness in private aviation, while fleet readiness and digital connectivity are reshaping competition across the sector. Advanced after-sales and maintenance services are also enhancing the economic value of private aviation.
Growing wealth and demand for luxury travel are driving increased interest in business jets across the Middle East.
According to Honeywell Aerospace's Global Business Aviation Outlook 2026, business jet departures in the UAE increased by 102.2 per cent over five years, reaching 5,475 flights. In comparison, Saudi Arabia recorded approximately 3,727 flights, representing growth of 42.2 per cent over the same period.
The 35th edition of the report highlights expanding opportunities for the business aviation sector across the Middle East, driven by rising wealth, growing demand for premium air travel services, infrastructure investment and the expansion of the private aviation services ecosystem. The UAE and Saudi Arabia have emerged as key regional markets, although their sectors are developing along different trajectories.
The surge in the UAE reflects increased use of business jets, alongside the development of private aviation infrastructure and the availability of specialised services. These factors reinforce the country's position as a regional hub for business and premium air travel. Growth extends beyond flight volumes to activities related to aircraft operations, management, maintenance and upgrades.
Opportunities beyond flight volumes
As aircraft utilisation increases, demand is growing for services that support readiness and operational efficiency. These include maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), fleet management, spare parts supply, avionics upgrades, digital connectivity and maintenance solutions.
The sector's expansion is also creating opportunities in aircraft management, private flight services, general aviation facilities, and technical training and skills development.
These services are becoming increasingly important as operators seek to reduce aircraft downtime and improve operating efficiency. Modern aircraft require advanced communication systems and technological solutions that meet operational requirements while enhancing the passenger experience.
This environment presents opportunities to invest in local technical capabilities, develop specialised skills and expand support services throughout the aircraft lifecycle, from daily operations and routine maintenance to system and equipment upgrades.
Market developments
The report noted that business jet departures in Saudi Arabia rose to 3,727 flights, marking a 42.2 per cent increase over five years. This growth has been driven by the expansion of general aviation facilities, infrastructure investment and regulatory reforms that support new operators and increase market activity.
The differing growth rates between the UAE and Saudi Arabia reflect the varying stages of market development. The UAE benefits from a mature infrastructure network and specialised services, while Saudi Arabia continues to expand its facilities and operational capabilities. This growth presents opportunities for companies involved in private aviation services, aircraft maintenance, fleet management and technical equipment.
Connectivity and readiness

Cooper Cullen, President of Honeywell Aerospace for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India, said the growth of the business aviation sector in the UAE and Saudi Arabia reflects broader changes across the regional market. He pointed to infrastructure expansion and increased aircraft utilisation, accompanied by evolving operator requirements and rising passenger expectations.
He said operators require aircraft that deliver high levels of readiness, efficiency and connectivity, while passengers increasingly expect a seamless and reliable digital experience. This highlights the growing importance of connectivity solutions, aircraft modernisation and integrated support services throughout the aircraft lifecycle.
Honeywell Aerospace provides technologies that include avionics, connectivity and aircraft modernisation solutions, as well as systems that support digital and connected operations.
Despite strong growth prospects, the sector faces challenges including geopolitical tensions and airspace disruptions, which can result in flight rerouting, higher fuel costs and greater operational complexity. Other challenges include shortages of pilots and technicians, regulatory complexities and limited maintenance capacity.
As the market evolves, competition in business aviation is expanding beyond flight volumes to include service quality, fleet readiness, operational efficiency, and access to advanced communication and maintenance solutions. These factors are expected to increase the importance of continued investment in the region's private aviation ecosystem.
