Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2026 concluded with a remarkable milestone, booking a total transaction value of US$22.94 billion, far exceeding its initial target of US$10.5 billion.
Trade Minister Budi Santoso revealed that this transaction value represents 131 percent of the government's target. The figure also registers an increase compared to the previous year's acquisition of US$22.68 billion against a US$16.5 billion target.
"Of the total transactions, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) contributed US$510.79 million," Budi stated during a closing press conference in Tangerang on Sunday (October 18).
According to the Trade Ministry, the top five countries with the highest transaction values at this year's exhibition were India, the Netherlands, Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates, and Japan.
On the commodity front, high-performing export categories included food and beverages, jewelry, wood products, agricultural goods, as well as livestock products.
This success was propelled by business outreach and business matching programs aggressively carried out by Indonesian trade representatives abroad starting a year prior to the exhibition.
Through these schemes, prospective buyers familiarized themselves with domestic products and exporters before attending the event, with some even visiting factories directly to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).
Head of the Agency for Development Control and Special Investigations (Bappisus) Aries Marsudiyanto added that national export potential remains wide open, backed by a strong domestic market, product diversity, and abundant natural resources.
With a population reaching roughly 300 million, Indonesia possesses massive opportunities to expand its export markets, including MSME products as well as the digital and creative economy sectors.
"Therefore, enhancing creativity, innovation, negotiation skills, trade diplomacy, and business management is key to strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesian products in the global market," Aries said.
He also emphasized the importance of synergy and cross-institutional collaboration to build a professional trade ecosystem spanning from the upstream to downstream sectors.
