Global oil prices fell in Asian trading on Monday morning following US President Donald Trump’s decision to lift sanctions on Russia.
Al Jazeera reported early Monday, October 19, that the decline came after Trump signed an executive order lifting many of the sanctions imposed on Russia.
According to the report, Brent crude futures fell by less than 1 percent to $108.80 per barrel.
The sanctions, which were lifted just days after taking effect, included tariffs on Russian goods and penalties targeting purchases of Russian oil and gas.
Oil prices nevertheless remain elevated, having reached their highest level since May 19 on Friday.
