PUTRAJAYA: Former Yayasan Bank Rakyat chairman Datuk Seri Nazir Hussin Akhtar Hussin was summoned to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters over a notice to declare his assets.
He arrived with two lawyers around 11am and was still at the headquarters as of 1pm.
Nazir is expected to receive an asset declaration notice under Section 36 of the MACC Act.
Earlier, Nazir told reporters that an injunction application had been filed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court yesterday to prevent enforcement of the notice.
He also claimed he could be arrested by the MACC and urged the commission to respect the legal process and await the court's decision on his application.
On Oct 1, the MACC remanded two corporate figures, brothers in their 40s and 50s holding the titles Datuk Seri and Datuk Wira, for five days to assist investigations into alleged collusion and abuse of power involving an investment of about RM10 million.
Initial investigations found that the brothers were suspected of colluding with an officer of an education-based foundation to approve the investment in a company owned by the elder brother in 2020.
Sources said the MACC had seized various assets in connection with the investigation, including 15 luxury cars and 12 high-powered motorcycles.
Five luxury watches, three bracelets and about RM30,000 in cash were also seized.
