Sierra Leonean entrepreneur Mohamed Barry has launched Konekta, a locally developed digital marketplace designed to connect customers with businesses, service providers, products and property listings through a single mobile application.
Announced on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, the platform is available for download on Google Play for Android users.
Konekta aims to simplify access to products and services by bringing different marketplace categories together in one application, reducing the need for users to search across multiple social media platforms and messaging groups.
The platform allows customers to discover local businesses, browse products and properties, and connect directly with service providers. It also offers entrepreneurs and small business owners an additional channel to showcase their products and services and reach potential customers.
The launch highlights the growing role of locally developed digital solutions in Sierra Leone’s technology sector, particularly in helping businesses improve their visibility and connect with consumers.
However, the platform’s long-term success will depend on user adoption, the quality of listings and participation from businesses and service providers.
Users are encouraged to verify sellers, product information and service providers before making payments. Those interested in property listings should also conduct independent ownership and legal checks before entering into financial agreements.
Konekta is currently available on Google Play, with its founder, Mohamed Barry, seeking to contribute to Sierra Leone’s digital economy by providing a platform tailored to the needs of local businesses and consumers.
