During the National Management Week 2026, around 250 students of PSG Institute of Management (PSGIM), Coimbatore, will take management learning beyond the classroom and into the community through initiatives focusing on waste management, rabies awareness, and preventing pollution caused by indiscriminate poster pasting, under the overarching theme of ‘Clean and Safe City’.
Observed from October 26 to 31 under the aegis of the Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS-New Delhi), the initiatives reflect a simple yet meaningful belief: building a better city is a shared responsibility.
During the week, students will engage with communities at more than 30 identified waste hotspots across Coimbatore. By promoting waste segregation at source and responsible disposal, they will encourage everyday practices that protect the environment and improve neighbourhoods for everyone. The initiative will also highlight the connection between unmanaged waste and street dogs. Discarded food and other waste can attract dogs to public spaces, increase the risk of conflict and create unhealthy conditions for people and animals.
Students will also conduct rabies awareness activities across 30 identified locations in the city in association with the Humane Animal Society (HAS), to promote rabies prevention, safe interactions with street dogs and humane animal care.
These activities will reinforce the importance of keeping public spaces free of food waste and other refuse that can attract dogs.
Students will also work with NGOs, including Olirum Kovai, on poster-related interventions and community engagement in locations such as Vellalore. Through these efforts, they will contribute to making public spaces cleaner and more welcoming.
Through these initiatives, PSGIM aims to nurture future managers who recognise that leadership is defined not only by professional achievements, but also by the willingness to understand community needs, work alongside others and contribute to the common good.
