Eagles star strangely says Tanner McKee could end up being like Tom Brady originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Philadelphia Eagles need some kind of boost from anyone on the roster right now, and Tanner McKee would be the biggest of them all.
McKee has done a very good job of coming in and doing what's needed when called upon, but now, as a full-time starter for the remainder of the season, unless the Eagles decide to make a trade, things will be more difficult than ever before.
McKee doesn't seem like a guy who is going to come in and instantly be a perfect fit for Philadelphia, but he can definitely be serviceable.
History says he's not elite by any means, but don't say that to one Philadelphia star. He believes that he has a chance to follow the career arc that Tom Brady did.
“I love Tanner,” said Zack Baun, H/T SB Nation.
“I love that guy so much. I told someone that it’s just seeming like he’s got some sort of Tom Brady career arc to him, because he’s totally capable, he’s tall, he knows where to go with the ball, he gets it out on time and he’s got a lot of confidence in these receivers.”
Obviously, Baun will stick up for his guy, and there's nothing wrong with that. However, suggesting he can be anything like Brady seems a bit ridiculous.
At the same time, some of what Baun is saying isn't really unfair, given that he trusts his receivers and hopes to figure some things out.
At the end of the day, the Eagles need guys to step up, and McKee is the primary candidate. Hopefully, he can be even a shell of Brady in terms of winning games at a high level, and Philadelphia can go on a nice stretch to end the season.
