Russia’s resources will begin to run out if Ukraine survives the coming winter, Poland’s foreign minister said on Saturday, urging Europeans to provide the embattled country with more aid such as power generators for the upcoming cold months.
Ukraine’s 1,200-kilometer-long front line remains static, and Russia’s offensive has stalled amid rising casualty rates among its own soldiers, Radosław Sikorski said, speaking at an event in northern Poland.

Sikorski believes Russian President Vladimir Putin’s future actions are based on two main factors.
“He is currently carrying out a partially covert mobilization, hoping that if he throws another 200,000 cannon fodder into the fray, he might break through the front,” he said.
“And, as is traditional among Russians, he is counting on ‘General Winter,’ which is why he is destroying combined heat and power” facilities, the minister added, referencing Russia’s attacks on Kyiv’s critical infrastructure.
Ukraine needs more aid
Sikorski called on the Polish public and European countries to provide additional humanitarian aid and energy equipment, including generators, to Ukraine to help its citizens get through the upcoming winter.
“If Ukraine survives this winter – and I am optimistic – Russian resources will begin to run out next year,” the foreign minister said.

‘Warmth from Poland’
Earlier this week, the organizers of a Polish fundraising campaign called Warmth from Poland for Kyiv, which saw 80,000 people donate to buy generators for the Ukrainian capital last winter, relaunched the initiative.
This year the campaign aims to raise 10 million zlotys (€2.5 million).
“Russia is counting on our exhaustion – on us growing used to the darkness and looking away,” the organizers wrote.
“Let’s answer with another convoy of generators. With practical help. With the warmth of people who refuse to stop caring.”
