This week Love Island stars Samie Elishi and Tyrique Hyde shared that they are expecting a baby together.
Samie confirmed the news on Instagram, posting a video of the pair attending an ultrasound appointment. Tyrique reposted the video on his own account, and left a comment: ‘Don't make a scene. Can't wait for this next chapter. Love you @samieelishi.’
While the comments are full of congratulations for the couple, some fans have questioned their relationship timeline. Just eight months ago, Samie won the All Stars spin-off of the show with Ciaran Davies. Then weeks later, she went public with her relationship with Tyrique.
When did Samie Elishi and Tyrique Hyde start dating?
Just three weeks after winning season three of Love Island All Stars, Samie and Ciaran announced their split in March.
Ciaran told Joe Baggs on the Not My Bag podcast that Samie had become ‘distant’ when she was on a brand trip in New York. ‘The messages started to get very very distant. I felt the energy wasn’t being matched,’ he said. Meanwhile Samie told her followers, ‘Me and Ciaran were in the very early stages of dating and we got into the real world and it just didn’t work.’
As this was happening, fans noticed that another islander, Tyrique, was trying to shoot his shot with Samie. The semi-professional footballer reportedly sent flowers to her house, having got her address from a friend. To add to the drama, Ciaran claimed that this happened while he was still technically dating Samie.
After her split, Sam and Tyrique were spotted on dates together, including attending a football match. They officially hard-launched their romance in late April, sharing photos from their holiday in Morocco.
The speedy turnaround of their relationship triggered some criticism from fans – particularly those who had voted for Samie and Ciaran to win All Stars. But the couple seemed incredibly unbothered. Tyrique (on his podcast run on Not My Bag) said, ‘You lot voting for them to win, hold the L. They didn’t even get much screen time anyway… Next time pick a better winner.’
He admitted that the circumstances of how they got together were ‘disrespectful’ to Ciaran, but said, ‘I don’t know him… The game is kinda the game.’

First appearing on Love Island in 2023, Tyrique came third place with Ella Thomas. He returned to the villa for season two of the Love Island Games and was runner up with Justine Ndiba.
Samie was part of the season 9 cast for the winter edition of the show, where she finished in third place with Tom Clare. She’s done All Stars twice – first coming in as a bombshell in season two and then winning the latest series earlier this year with Ciaran.
