UFC Middleweight champion Sean Strickland recently expressed his annoyance over his current UFC contract. He then followed it up by teasing a jump to Jake Paul’s MVP. Just a few days after his concerning car accident, Strickland ranted about his UFC contract, but UFC boss Dana White has now finally addressed it.
Strickland’s Middleweight championship won’t be on the line again in 2026 amid the ongoing dispute between the UFC and the current title holder. After defeating Khamzat Chimaev in May, 2026 to become a two-time titleholder, Strickland was set to put his belt on the line against Nassourdine Imavov before the year’s end.
That fight has now been delayed as Strickland refuses to fight under his current contractual terms. As it turns out, Strickland only agreed to a new deal five months ago. During the post-fight press conference after the latest Contender Series episode, White addressed Strickland’s ongoing disputes with the UFC.

While White did not directly comment on his pay complaints, he addressed Strickland’s refusal to compete and public rant. “When isn’t Sean Strickland upset about something or doesn’t have something to say?” White said.
“Sean Strickland just signed a new contract in May. He just signed a new contract in May. He signed a new deal. Was that like, four months ago? Five months ago? He signed a new deal. And from what I hear, the number he’s putting out there, it’s not true. The number that he claimed he made is not true.
“It is what it is,” he further added. “If we were in a situation where he’d been under the same contract for a year, two years — he just signed a contract in May. He got a whole new deal in May. So it is what it is.”
As of now, no final resolution has been reached between the two parties.
