Essay competition on consumer rights held at ZGC

Zunheboto, October 12 (MExN): Ten students participated in an essay competition on ‘Rights and Responsibilities of Consumers’ held at Zunheboto Government College (ZGC) on October 12.The Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection, Zunheboto, organised the event to raise awareness about consumer rights and responsibilities, fair trade practices, and the quality and safety of goods and services. The initiative also aimed to familiarise students with the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, including redress mechanisms for unfair trade practices and grievances.The department noted that the competition was part of its consumer rights awareness activities at ZGC. Results will be declared on October 13 during the College ICE Fest 2026.Similar programmes have been held across the district, including drawing activities at Government Middle School Amiphoto and Kawoto, an essay competition at Government Higher Secondary School Zunheboto, and a seminar workshop at Aghunato. Isakali of Economics, 3rd Semester, secured first prize in an essay competition organised at Zunheboto Government College on the theme “Rights and Responsibilities of Consumers.” Vipeni of English, 5th Semester, secured second prize, while Siya Luitel of History, 3rd Semester, won third prize.
