GEORGE TOWN: A 20-metre Angsana tree fell onto part of a hotel roof in Batu Ferringhi following heavy rain this morning.
No injuries were reported.
Penang Fire and Rescue Department operations division assistant director John Sagun Francis said the tree, reportedly measuring 3.6 metres in diameter, landed on a small section of the roof.
Firefighters cut up the fallen tree and cleared the debris, with assistance from Penang Island City Council personnel.
"No vehicles or casualties were involved," he said in a statement.
Firefighters secured the area before concluding the operation at 9.45am.
The incident occurred less than 24 hours after three trees fell onto the roofs of three houses in Kampung Bukit, Bayan Lepas, yesterday, damaging the homes.
