JOHOR BARU: A 15-year-old boy who was fleeing a pack of strays was bitten by one of the dogs at Perumahan Rakyat Lima Kedai yesterday.
Mohammad Aliff Najmi Mohd Razi had gone out to buy fever medicine for his younger sibling when the attack occurred.
He said he heard the dogs barking but did not expect them to charge at him.
The pack, he said, immediately chased him.
He ran from Block C towards Block L to escape but fell. It was then that the dogs attacked him.
"One dog bit my leg. I screamed for help and kicked its head until it released its grip.
"I then ran upstairs to Block L. That was when my friends and several residents came to my help and chased the dogs away," he said.
Aliff said this was his first time being attacked by dogs, and said it left him traumatised.
His mother, Norazila Abdul Salam, 44, said she became concerned after Aliff didn't return after two hours.
"A friend came to tell me that my son was bitten by a dog. I was shocked when he returned with blood covering his leg, and the bleeding would not stop.
"I took him to a nearby clinic. I hope immediate action is taken to prevent this from happening again," she said.
The incident comes a day after a 7-year-old boy was attacked by a pack of eight stray dogs at a playground near a flat in Lima Kedai, Gelang Patah. The boy sustained severe injuries to his face.
An 18-year-old youth narrowly escaped a similar attack by the same pack at the location earlier that morning.
