Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met on 22 October with Pere Joan Pons Sampietro, president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE PA), who arrived in Uzbekistan on a working visit. The sides discussed prospects for expanding cooperation, including interparliamentary dialogue.
The meeting noted positive momentum in Uzbekistan’s cooperation with the OSCE and its Parliamentary Assembly. Uzbekistan has a permanent delegation to the organisation, whose representatives regularly participate in election observation missions in the country.
The sides also cooperate on environmental issues, migration and transport. Uzbekistan is represented on the OSCE PA’s Special Committee on Migration.
They also exchanged views on current international issues, including strengthening regional partnerships in Central Asia.
To advance practical cooperation, the sides agreed to prepare a joint roadmap identifying new priority areas for collaboration.
