Lahj – Yemeni sources reported that government forces repelled a Houthi attack in Lahj Governorate, resulting in dozens of casualties on both sides. Hundreds of families were displaced by shelling of border villages.
The sources stated that the Houthis launched the attack in the Al-Mudharabah and Ras Al-Arah districts after breaching some border fronts with Taiz Governorate, before government forces were able to repel them.
The sources confirmed that the majority of the dead and wounded were Houthis. The attack comes after the group seized control of districts in southern and western Taiz Governorate.
On Monday, the Southern Giants Brigades reinforced their forces in Lahj Governorate, near the Al-Wazi'iyah district, to counter any Houthi advance in the Al-Subaiha region.
Yemeni sources reported that the Southern Giants Brigades have reinforced their forces in the Al-Mudharabah district of Lahj governorate, which borders the Al-Wazi'iyah district of Taiz governorate, to confront the Houthis and thwart any attempts to advance towards the Al-Subaiha region.
In a statement, the Giants Brigades praised "the steadfastness of the Al-Subaiha tribes," while simultaneously affirming "the unity of purpose in the existential battle against the Houthis."
Hundreds Displaced
Meanwhile, villages in the Al-Mudharabah and Ras Al-Ara districts, particularly those bordering Taiz, witnessed a mass exodus due to Houthi shelling with missiles, drones, and mortars.
Hundreds of families left their homes, heading towards the Tur Al-Bahah area in Lahj, while others fled to Aden.
This wave of displacement comes amidst dire living conditions for families, a consequence of the war that has raged for over 12 years.
