UKHRUL: The All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM), and the Makui Village Authority have condemned the killing of six Naga men in separate incidents in Kangpokpi and Kamjong districts on October 9 and 10, alleging the involvement of Kuki armed groups and demanding a high-level investigation.
In separate statements issued on Sunday, the ANSAM and Makui VA reported four deaths in attacks at Makui and Tapon villages in Kangpokpi district on October 10, and two more at Ningchao in Kamjong district.

ANSAM identified the four victims in Kangpokpi as Machungammang Daimai, Dibambou Ringkangmai, Ajinpou R. and Ramningpou Robert Gangmei. It alleged the involvement of cadres from KNF-P, KNF-N and KRA. Two civilians, Mathangambou Chawang and Nashon Pame, were reportedly injured, while several houses and properties were burnt.
The Makui VA separately alleged that KNF (P), KRA and KNF-B cadres were involved in the October 10 attack on villagers returning to Makui Chamriupiu, which it said had been burnt on September 21.
The Makui VA alleged that Ajinpou was beheaded and his severed head used as a shooting target. It said his head remained missing and demanded its return for a burial in accordance with customary traditions. The VA also alleged that houses in Makui Chamriupiu, Makui Thebram, Makui Pipuram (Saramjao) and Makui Thanamba were burnt, church properties were looted and three cows were slaughtered and stolen.
In a separate incident, ANSAM identified the two victims in Kamjong as Ngachanso Ningshen and Leishisan Leishadang. It alleged the involvement of the Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B), Kuki armed groups operating under the Suspension of Operations agreement and Village Volunteers Eastern Zone (VVEZ). Two Naga civil defence volunteers were reportedly injured by gunfire, and nine houses were allegedly burnt.

ANSAM also questioned a Manipur Police statement that the overall law-and-order situation had remained normal during the preceding 24 hours, citing the reported killings and destruction of property.
Both ANSAM and Makui VA urged the governments of Manipur and India to intervene. ANSAM sought an impartial, high-level investigation, prosecution of those responsible, recovery of the missing remains and stronger security for vulnerable Naga settlements. The Makui Village Authority also appealed to the two governments and international human rights bodies to act.
Meanwhile, the Pongringlong Youth Club (PYC) has condemned the reported October 10 attack on Pongringlong Rongmei Naga village in Kangpokpi district, alleging that more than 30 armed Kuki cadres advanced from multiple directions and set fire to 17 structures, including 14 family houses and three community buildings. According to PYC, 10 structures were burnt down and seven damaged, affecting six families. The club said the incident followed reported gunfire on May 22 and the killing of village authority member Chunjanglung Panmei on June 8, and demanded enhanced security, an impartial investigation, accountability, and relief, compensation and rehabilitation for affected families.
