Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has congratulated four career diplomats recently commissioned by President John Dramani Mahama to represent Ghana abroad.
In a social media post on Sunday, the minister expressed confidence that the newly appointed envoys would serve the country diligently and make Ghana proud in their respective diplomatic jurisdictions.
The appointments form part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s diplomatic representation and advance the country’s interests internationally.
The newly appointed diplomats are H.E. Nana Antwiwaa Dodoo, who will serve as Ghana’s Ambassador to Angola; H.E. Louis Kwame Obeng, appointed Ambassador to Qatar; and H.E. Evelyn Korantemaa Ofosu-Amable, who will represent Ghana in Israel.
The fourth appointee, H.E. Jedidiah Reuben Adogla, has been named Ghana’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Switzerland. Mr Ablakwa described the appointees as seasoned diplomats and expressed confidence in their ability to discharge their responsibilities effectively.
The minister further emphasised that the government expects all ambassadors and high commissioners to meet their key performance indicators (KPIs), while prioritising the welfare and provision of consular assistance to Ghanaians living in their respective countries of accreditation.
He stressed that Ghana’s diplomatic missions must remain responsive to the needs of citizens abroad, particularly those facing difficulties and requiring assistance from the country’s representatives.
Mr Ablakwa also disclosed that the Foreign Affairs Ministry had created what he described as the first comprehensive database of Ghanaians across the world, with particular emphasis on identifying those who require diplomatic and consular support.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare and dignity of Ghanaians wherever they may be, stressing that protecting citizens abroad remains a key priority of the country’s foreign policy.
