The Los Angeles Dodgers are staring at the brink of elimination, and Miguel Rojas is not sugarcoating how they got there. Los Angeles fell 6-2 to the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series on Wednesday at Dodger Stadium, putting the two-time defending champions in a 3-0 series hole.
After the game, the veteran infielder offered a blunt explanation for the deficit. “To win championships, you’ve got to win moments. We haven’t been able to do that in this series. They have,” Rojas said, via MLB Network. “That’s why we’re 0-3 right now.”
Game 3 was a perfect example. The Dodgers grabbed a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning when Will Smith lined a two-run double off Abner Uribe, and Blake Snell had retired 14 straight batters at one point after allowing a leadoff home run to Jackson Chourio on the first pitch of the game.

Milwaukee flipped it in the seventh. With a runner on, Jake Bauers won an 11-pitch battle against Snell and drilled a two-run homer to put the Brewers back in front. Garrett Mitchell followed with a solo blast, and Milwaukee tacked on runs in the eighth and ninth to pull away.
The big moments have gone the Brewers’ way all series. Milwaukee won Game 1 by a 2-1 margin before taking Game 2 7-4, with its bullpen retiring all 15 Dodgers it faced to close out the second game.
The Dodgers’ offense, meanwhile, has gone cold. Los Angeles has yet to hit a home run in the series, and it has struggled badly with runners in scoring position throughout the postseason.
Rojas knows the value of a big moment better than most. The 37-year-old is playing his final MLB season after returning to the Dodgers on a one-year deal, and he was one of the heroes of last year’s World Series run.
Now, Los Angeles needs a lot of them in a hurry. The Dodgers have trailed 3-0 in a best-of-seven postseason series only once before, when the Baltimore Orioles swept them in the 1966 World Series.
They will try to stave off elimination in Game 4 on Thursday at Dodger Stadium, with the Brewers looking to complete a sweep and clinch their first National League pennant.
