DONETSK, October 12. /TASS/. The Ukrainian military has begun strapping various types of explosives to Russian prisoners of war so that they can carry out sabotage operations against Russian positions, Dmitry Kemerov, the commander of an assault unit of the Russian Battlegroup Center’s 80th Tank Regiment, told TASS.
"We first recorded such an incident at the end of the summer. The enemy attached a mine and a backpack filled with TNT to one of our comrades who had previously been taken prisoner and sent him back to our positions. We encounter this from time to time and hear about it from our allies," the commander said.
Such incidents, the officer specified, have been recorded in the Dnepropetrovsk Region. According to him, one of the main objectives of such operations is to gather intelligence, and only after that – to actually identify and destroy Russian positions.
Earlier, a fighter with the call sign Zemlyak told TASS that Ukrainian troops had begun using prisoners from Russia as human bombs, sending them toward Russian positions wearing mined collars equipped with GPS transmitters. According to defense sources, militants from the Azov battalion (recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia), the 36th Separate Marine Brigade, and the 79th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian armed forces are among those using Russian prisoners of war as human bombs.
