All People’s Congress (APC) senior member Minkailu Koroma has questioned the credibility of the Independent Governance Review (IGR) report, arguing that the review did not consult the party’s actual delegates while its internal electoral processes remain ongoing.
Speaking on AYV’s Wake Up Sierra Leone, Koroma said the APC was still compiling its delegate list following internal elections, raising questions about how the IGR identified and consulted delegates for its report.
“On a personal note, I am not against the report. But the IGR did not use the actual APC delegates, so how can the report now say they have contacted the APC delegates? That is mathematically wrong,” he said.
Koroma described the report’s methodology as inadequate, claiming that the review team did not have access to the party’s newly elected delegates.
“The IGR report is very unrealistic. The IGR did not even have access to any of the newly elected delegates of the APC. The methodology the IGR used was very poor,” he stated.
He also questioned the relationship between the IGR and the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL), alleging possible coordination between the two institutions.
“For all you know, the IGR might be playing a syndicate with the ECSL. We in the APC do not trust them,” Koroma said.
He maintained that the party had yet to finalise its delegate list because its internal electoral processes were still underway, questioning which list the IGR had used to identify delegates for its consultations.
“There is no constructive delegate list for the APC, as our elections are still ongoing and we are still putting together the delegate list. So we do not know which list IGR used,” he said.
Although Koroma clarified that he was not opposed to the report itself, he disputed the process used to gather information from APC delegates.
His comments add to the debate surrounding the IGR report’s methodology and the reliability of its findings concerning political parties. His claims about the review process and the ECSL remain allegations and should not be treated as independently established facts.
