Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Saturday unveiled the logo and portal for a 1,670-acre integrated manufacturing city in Gayaji, which is expected to attract investments of Rs 16,500 crore and generate around 1.1 lakh jobs, PTI reported.
The Bihar Integrated Manufacturing City is being developed in Dobhi block under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC).
The project is part of the state government's push to attract industrial investment, strengthen infrastructure and create employment opportunities for local youth.
The government is also pursuing land acquisition across approximately 13,500 acres for industrial and infrastructure development, which is expected to be completed by January 2027, Choudhary said in the report.
Plans are also underway to develop a township and a cultural heritage centre named after Magadh to promote tourism and economic activity.
Choudhary identified steel, textiles, food processing, electronics, electric vehicles and biofuels as key sectors for investment.
He said the government would focus on translating investment commitments into operational projects and jobs, while urging investors from India and abroad to explore opportunities in Bihar.
At the event, the state government signed memorandums of understanding with 12 industrial units involving proposed investments of Rs 4,092 crore, the report added.
The proposed investments span energy, textiles, organic products, automobiles, aluminium, agro-based industries and biotechnology.
The chief minister also said plans were underway to connect Gaya by air to Dubai and Kathmandu, while efforts would be made to expand air connectivity to Bhagalpur, Sonepur and other locations.
Industries Department Secretary Kundan Kumar announced that Bihar Business Connect 2027 would be held on February 17 and 18.
Choudhary also urged the Bihari diaspora to contribute to the state's development, noting that the Bihar Foundation had established connections with people in 55 countries.
