The Serbian Republic Election Commission (RIK) rejected a proposal to urgently include in its agenda a request for data on ID cards from the Internal Affairs Ministry.
The proposal comes after Ognjen Rasuo, a member of the commission reviewing the voter register, reported that the number of valid identity cards rose by about 235,000 between May 18 and September 28, according to figures supplied by the ministry. The increase has raised questions because the number of registered voters did not rise by a comparable amount.
The Green-Left Front has called on the ministry to explain the discrepancy.
