KUALA LUMPUR: Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has denied claims that the party supports the government's appeal against a High Court decision staying Perikatan Nasional's deregistration.
In a Facebook post today, Azmin said a statement claiming that Bersatu supported the Home Minister's move to appeal the ruling was fake.
"Slander. Fake," he wrote, attaching an image of the purported statement.
It was reported yesterday that the Registrar of Societies (RoS) and Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail had filed an appeal against the Kuala Lumpur High Court's decision to stay PN's deregistration. On Thursday, the High Court granted a stay of the deregistration pending a judicial review, allowing the coalition to contest the Nov 14 Melaka election using its logo. (hyperlink: https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2026/10/1561363/updated-high-court-grants-pn-stay-ros-deregistration )
The RoS had revoked PN's registration on Tuesday after finding that the coalition's explanation had failed to address the grounds for deregistration. (hyperlink:https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2026/10/1559456/updated-ros-confirms-pns-deregistration )
Following the decision, Azmin said the deregistration vindicated Bersatu's earlier complaint against PN's leadership over alleged breaches of the coalition's constitution. He accused the Pas-led PN leadership of denying Bersatu the right to attend, express its views and vote at a Supreme Council meeting on July 16.
