November 2026 SASSA Older Person Grants are no longer under review and agency has confirmed payment dates. Forced to tweak the payday schedule because of local government elections, weirdly, state pensioners are actually going to be paid November’s grants, in October.
November 2026 SASSA Older Person Grants were originally scheduled for Tuesday 3 November 2026. This represented a 32-day gap between disbursements. However, the revised payment date is now Friday 30 October 2026. And this is exactly a four-week – or 28-day gap – since the previous payday. Hence two grant payments in a single month …
NOVEMBER 2026 SASSA OLDER PERSON GRANTS
However, besides saving four days, the country’s four-million elderly would ideally trade that for something like a sizeable SASSA grant increase instead. However, there is some hope that Finance Minister Godongwana’s Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS) – scheduled for Wednesday 21 October 2026 – may bring further good news about the trajectory in 2027.
Let’s not forget the South African Social Security Agency increased Older Person Grants by a miserly R80 back in April 2026. But there have been no increases since, not even an October top-up like we had for the last two years:
- SASSA Old-Age Grants 60 to 74 years old – R2 400 (up from R2 320).
- SASSA Old-Age Grants 75 years and older – R2 420 (up from R2 340).
WHY ARE NOVEMBER 2026 SASSA OLDER PERSON GRANTS UNDER REVIEW?
Nevertheless, the agency says it continues with strict review and eLife certification policies in an attempt to slash budgets. Meanwhile, the Auditor-General just revealed in Parliament that more than a billion rand in SASSA grants is being drawn illegally every year. Every million lost could feed more than 100 households receiving November 2026 SASSA Older Person Grants.
Which is why SASSA cross references all your personal data with other government departments and banks. Therefore, anyone claiming a government grant that shouldn’t, could be caught and forced to repay their ill-gotten funds. For those who are reviewed by SASSA and clear their names, they receive a deferred payment on a ‘fourth payment date,’ which has now moved to Thursday 5 November 2026 after review.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO BE APPROVED?
November 2026 SASSA Older Person Grants typically take around three months to be processed. So, if you apply today, you will receive your first payment around about February 2027. However, the good news is you will be back paid to the date of your first application, a first tranche of three months in one go. But that’s assuming you have all your above documents correct at the first time of asking.
It is now possible to complete eLife certification and biometric verification online to save time before you queue. You can do so HERE on the SASSA Service Portal. However, it has been offline recently when we check it. Plus, if you’re too old, sick or live in a remote rural area you can get a loved one to help with your November 2026 SASSA Older Person Grants application. All you need is a letter from your doctor.
