Since 90’s and Bound By Fire emerged as the winning bands at Road to Hornbill 2026, held on October 11 at The Switch Music Arena, bringing together local bands to celebrate Nagaland’s growing music scene and showcase emerging musical talent.
Organised by the Naga Musicians Facebook group with the support of the Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA), the event featured performances by Velvet Siren, DCY, Incarnate Band, Kenny and the Faith Band, Old School Nagaland, Bound By Fire and Since 90’s.
According to a press release “Bound By Fire and Since 90’s” were declared the wining bands while DCY and Velvet Siren were recognised as the Most Promising Bands. DCY won the awards for Best Drummer and Best Guitarist, while Velvet Siren received the Best Bassist award. Bound By Fire’s vocalist was adjudged Best Vocalist. The performances were evaluated by judges Mhaseve Tetseo, Ronnie Odyuo and Khriesazo Liezeietsu, who brought their musical knowledge and experience to the competition.
A special highlight of the evening was the announcement that an organisation had independently selected Velvet Siren for promotion and support, offering the band an opportunity to further its musical journey and reach a wider audience. The Road to Hornbill initiative aims to provide local bands with opportunities to perform, gain exposure and connect with wider audiences. Such platforms play an important role in nurturing emerging talent and strengthening Nagaland’s music industry.
The organisers expressed gratitude to all participating bands, judges, sponsors, partners, guests and audience members for their support in making the event a success. The event reaffirmed the importance of creating opportunities for local musicians to showcase their abilities, grow professionally and work towards performing at the Hornbill Festival and other major platforms.
