The Punjab government has just officially abolished its old property deed-writing practices. Consequently, provincial authorities formally launched the new Arazi Moawin system across Punjab. This implementation marks a massive shift in how the province handles real estate and property documentation.
Punjab Transitions to a Digital ‘Arazi Moawin’ System
Under the new rules, only registered Arazi Moawins hold the authority to prepare property deeds. Therefore, unregistered individuals immediately lost their eligibility to draft legal documents after October 12.
Fortunately, former deed writers can still adapt and work under the new framework. They must complete their registration online through a designated government website. Furthermore, the government introduced various monthly subscription packages to facilitate this new registration process.
This new framework isn’t just about an online portal. It requires actual hardware upgrades. Specifically, the system now makes modern biometric machines mandatory for all newly registered deed writers. Consequently, writers cannot process legal property work without adopting this specific technology.
Slow Adoption Rate
However, current adoption rates remain incredibly low. Right now, Lahore only has 138 registered Arazi Moawins operating in the provincial capital. Ultimately, this biometric system forces a strict, tech-focused upgrade onto Punjab’s traditional real estate sector.
