THE Guardia Civil has opened a murder investigation after a woman’s body was found half-buried in a sand dune on a beach in Cadiz province.
A walker found the body on Sancti Petri beach, in Chiclana de la Frontera, on the morning of Sunday, October 18, and alerted the Guardia Civil.
It was lying in a dune close to one of the beach access points.

Sancti Petri lies at the northern tip of the Chiclana coast, at the mouth of the Sancti Petri channel and the island castle of Sancti Petri.
The body was so badly decomposed that officers were initially unable to tell whether it was a man or a woman.
A post-mortem has since confirmed it was a woman. It also found signs ‘consistent with a violent death.’
She has not yet been identified, and the Guardia Civil says all lines of inquiry remain open.
Investigators have not said when she died or how long the body had been on the beach, and say they will not release further details for now to protect the investigation.
Guardia Civil officers, Local Police and an ambulance attended the scene before the body was removed.
