It looked as though the Texas Longhorns were going to cruise to arguably their best win of the season. In a game they had to have for their College Football Playoff hopes, Texas went up 24-3 on Ole Miss heading into halftime. Then things got dicey.
Arch Manning was strip-sacked from his blind side for a fumble that was returned for a touchdown on the first drive of the second half, followed by three Texas offensive drives ending in punts. Then, Manning threw his second interception of the game early in the fourth quarter with the game tied at 24-24.

Texas went run-heavy for the rest of the game, and ended up scathing by with a 34-27 win. It was clear in the fourth quarter that Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian didn’t want to let Manning throw the ball.
Kirk Herbstreit expresses shock at Arch Manning's decision-making on second interception
Manning has simply been too careless with the football, something that commentator Kirk Herbstreit couldn’t help but scold Manning for after the second interception.
It wasn’t all doom and gloom for Manning. Aside from the turnovers, he made several big-time throws, particularly on deep passes. The physical tools are obviously there, but he must limit the turnovers if he wants to succeed in the NFL.
It sounds as though he will have time to iron that part of his game out, though. Reports surfaced this weekend that Manning might be leaning towards staying in school for the final year of his college eligibility, instead of entering the 2027 NFL Draft.
