THE RUNDOWN
- Rosalía performed on Saturday Night Live on October 10.
- This marks her third time performing on the SNL stage, and her second time doing so solo.
- She wore Erik Charlotte and Erica Myat to mark the occasion.
On October 10, Rosalía was Saturday Night Live’s musical guest.
The Spanish singer arrived at Studio 8H in New York City’s Midtown wearing a cream dress from Paloma Wool’s spring/summer 2027 runway. The look set the tone for what would ultimately be a string of dark romantic ensembles that were on-theme with her Lux era.
Rosalía was the third musical guest of SNL this season, which marked her third time on the show as well. The first was in 2021 with Bad Bunny to perform “La Noche de Anoche.” Then, in 2022, she made her solo debut to perform “Chicken Teriyaki” and “La Fama.”
This time, the newly minted 34-year-old, who just wrapped an acclaimed international tour, sang “Reliquia” and “Magnolias,” two of the Spanish tracks on her fourth studio album—Lux, which includes 13 languages.
For her first performance, Rosalía chose “Reliquia,” a poetic track that explores the heart—and one’s very existence—as a relic. As she sang about losing metaphorical parts of herself (her tongue in Paris, time in L.A., eyes in Rome), the artist stood en pointe for the entire three-and-a-half-minute song while belting the breathy, emotional lyrics.
For that number, Rosalía wore a lace, black-and-white corset tutu dress from Erik Charlotte’s spring/summer 2027. Paired with sheer black tights and pointe shoes, her bottom half stood still as her upper half moved gracefully and carried what was arguably the season’s best performance thus far.
Then, for her second number, Rosalía opted for a live rendition of the hauntingly beautiful “Magnolias.” The song, which explores the spiritual celebration of life through one’s death, asks funeral guests to shower her with the fragrant flower.
The seven-time Latin Grammy-nominated artist wore a see-through dress from Burmese designer Erica Myat; it was the finale look of Myat’s AW26 collection. Much like the evocative singer, Myat has been described as a brand that “finds empowerment in vulnerability.”
The evening’s looks were styled by sisters Chloe and Chenelle Delgadillo, who have worked with Rosalía throughout this era—wrapping her in Matthieu Blazy’s Chanel for The Tonight Show last year, vintage John Galliano for the “Sauvignon Blanc” video this year, custom Miss Claire Sullivan during tour, and more—while also working with several others, including Olivia Rodrigo, who wore Hussein Chalayan’s melting dress during a faux rain moment at the start of her tour in September.
