Just three games on the slate tonight as the IHSAA playoffs begin for Classes 1-4A and for four teams in 5 and 6A.
Edgewood (5-4) and Owen Valley (5-4) are on the road for rematches from Western Indiana Conference play in Class 3A Sectional 31.
The Mustangs head to Vincennes Lincoln (6-3) in a 7:30 p.m. kickoff with hopes to avenge a 31-14 loss in Week 6. However, it was a 7-0 game at half before the Alices expanded their lead in the third quarter. The winner is home against Indian Creek (9-0).
Owen Valley will head back to Sullivan (4-5), for a 7 o'clock kickoff against a team capable of scoring in bunches, but also capable giving up points in bunches, having surrendered 38 or more five times, including a 38-30 loss to the Patriots in Week 6. OV is coming off a pair of tough losses while a win over winless West Vigo stopped a four-game losing streak for Sullivan in which it gave up 185 points.
The only other Sectional 31 game has Washington (2-7) at Scottsburg (4-5) at 7:30.
Eastern Greene (3-6) is back in Class 2A and begins Sectional 40 play at home vs. Paoli (6-3) at 7. The Rams have won four straight under new coach Sam Werczynski. Paoli has won its playoff opener every year since 2016.
The only 5A game is in Sectional 13 where Greenfield-Central is playing conference rival Mt. Vernon (Fortville), with the winner facing Cathedral.
