Swiss Poll International conducted fieldwork for the report between September 3 and September 21, 2026, gathering data intended to map the evolving gubernatorial landscape ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The research exercise is part of a national tracking series examining projected first and second positions in each county's governor race.
The six-percentage-point gap separating Ngirici and Murango indicates a competitive contest, with the large undecided bloc leaving room for significant shifts in voter alignment before polling day.
Should a portion of that 32% consolidate around either frontrunner, the standings could change materially in subsequent tracking rounds.
What the findings mean for Kirinyaga
Kirinyaga County's race is shaping up as one of the more closely contested gubernatorial battles in the Mount Kenya region.
The county has a history of competitive governor elections, and the current figures suggest neither leading candidate has secured a commanding advantage at this stage of the campaign cycle.
Swiss Poll International described the report as a national research exercise designed to offer insights into candidates' electability and the level of competition in each county ahead of the general election. Further tracking rounds are expected to be published as the election approaches.
