Lights, camera, Park Street! A look at Allen Park’s first Durga Puja

Though Christmas is still far away, Kolkata’s Park Street is bedecked with holiday euphoria — as Allen Park hosts its first Durga Puja, bringing together lights, crowds, music and food. Here’s a look at the festivities. 

The stretch around Allen Park is particularly lively, with illuminated decorations setting the mood for the season’s celebrations. 

The festive lighting, bustling crowds and vibrant atmosphere make Park Street a popular spot for evening strolls and photographs. 

Overhead light installations brighten the street, transforming the stretch into a festive spectacle for visitors and passers-by. 

The Puja is organised by Kolkata Sanatani Sangha, with its president Shankudeb Panda saying that the decision to organise a Puja at Allen Park was driven by the absence of a themed Durga Puja in the immediate area.

The Puja is centred on the theme of Tandav. Ashtami jagrata, Nabami’s Nabadurga Puja and Dashami sindoor khela will be organised to round off the celebrations.
