The Directorate of Women Mobilisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, as part of its pre-rally event as directed by First Lady Sen Oluremi Tinubu, extended its grassroots engagement activities to hospitals and communities across Kaduna State, focusing on support to persons with health challenges and the welfare of vulnerable persons, including empowerment for women in Kaduna.
The outreach team, led by Dr Betta Edu, featured hospital visits and a community medical outreach designed to bring healthcare services closer to residents and highlight the importance of accessible medical care for vulnerable groups.
During the hospital visits, Dr Betta Edu, Sen Binta Masi Garaba, Senator Olujumi, Hon Elizabeth Ogenyi, Hon Ada Ode and Hon Gloria Akobundu with other members of the directorate as well as the Majority Leader of the Kaduna State House of Assembly Hon Munirat Suleiman Tanimu interacted with patients, healthcare workers and hospital administrators, bringing a message of hope from the First Lady Sen Oluremi Tinubu who has asked that we reach out to women and children in various hospitals in Kaduna ahead of the rally flag-off.
Dr Edu said: “Our President has done a lot in the health sector and is working on more reforms that will provide affordable health care for Nigerians.” She noted that pregnant women are receiving free maternal care in selected hospitals across the country where they do not have to pay for delivery, Caesarean sections or drugs, while other social interventions like subsidising the cost of renal dialysis, cancer care, amongst others, are provided.
She commended the First Lady who has a health intervention as part of her Renewed Hope Initiative. She has supported midwives’ training and equipping as a way to strengthen maternal health care and reduce maternal mortality in Nigeria.
The directorate’s engagement highlighted the importance of compassionate humanitarian support to patient care, community support systems, and sustained attention to the welfare of vulnerable Nigerians.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the President and his wife for the kind gesture. They also thanked the Women Mobilisation PCC team for the show of love and kindness, noting that they will support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu so the free maternal health care continues and is even expanded. The beneficiaries equally commended President Tinubu for NELFUND support for their children in tertiary institutions, noting that it has reduced the financial burden on families.
The initiative also formed part of the directorate’s broader grassroots engagement strategy, combining community outreach with public awareness of policies and initiatives under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The organisers said the programme reflected the directorate’s emphasis on reaching citizens directly and placing the concerns of women, families and vulnerable communities at the centre of its engagement activities as a way of mobilising votes for President Tinubu.
Barau Dikko and Yusuf Dansoho Memorial Hospital were the two beneficiaries of the compassionate hospital outreach which underscored the directorate’s commitment to grassroots engagement, community welfare and improved healthcare support, while reinforcing the importance of ensuring that certain groups, particularly women and children, are not left behind in ongoing efforts to promote inclusive development under the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration.
