USC football faces Wisconsin on Saturday. The Badgers used to be contenders on an annual basis in the Big Ten. They have lost that place of prominence. We talked to Badgers Wire editor Jordon Lawrenz about the reason Wisconsin lost its edge and how the Badger offense can threaten USC this Saturday.
"A million things happened, but it started with trying to go to an air raid offense," Lawrenz told us. "That was never going to work with the quarterbacks they had, and then all of Fickell’s QBs got hurt, so he never even got a chance to show what this offense was supposed to be all about. Clearly, UW doesn’t have as much NIL as other Big Ten schools, and that also haunted them these past few seasons."
In terms of the Wisconsin offense versus the USC defense, Lawrenz said "There was a bit of drama with the offensive line this week over a viral quote that was taken out of context. Basically, if one person isn’t doing their job, then this run-game is never going to work. Joseph has somehow led the charge in that department these past few weeks, and that came with Iowa State transfer Abu Sama being back a week ago. No one is asking Joseph to throw for 300 yards a game, but 66 passing yards simply isn’t going to cut it, and UW needs more than 34 yards out of Sama per game."
