A million thoughts raced through his mind as he processed his situation.
“It’s in the woods, it’s in Blockhouse, not a big city, so I never expected someone to come in and point a gun at me,” Vikit told The Chronicle Herald. “He asked me: ‘Give me all your money.’”
After dealing with the initial shock, Vikit said, he tried to stay calm, telling the robber that they had very little money in the till while moving slowly away from it. Once the robber went toward the register, Vikit said, he ran outside and tried to lock the masked man in the store so he could call police.
But the robber pushed his way out and started running along Highway 325 before turning onto a nearby road, with Vikit in pursuit. He said he saw the robber hop into a small white SUV and drive off.
Lunenburg District RCMP are investigating and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect, who is described as about six feet tall and was wearing a black coat with the hood up and a brown face covering.
Police are ask anyone with information to contact them at 902-634-8674 or to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Vikit said he’s still surprised by the ordeal.
“It’s a small store, it’s a small community, so if people are coming in to rob for a few hundred bucks, that’s not good.”
Vikit added that he feels fine and the store’s operation is uninterrupted.
