The Ministry of Information and Civic Education (MOICE) has officially announced the return of the Salone Civic Festival, a flagship national event aimed at strengthening democratic dialogue and civic participation. The three-day festival will take place from 10 to 12 December 2026 at the Youyi Building in Freetown.
Designed as a platform for government-citizen engagement, the festival seeks to promote national unity, strengthen civic education, and encourage active public participation in governance across Sierra Leone.
Organised under the auspices of the Government of Sierra Leone, the Salone Civic Festival will provide an opportunity for citizens to engage directly with state institutions. Attendees will have the chance to meet representatives from various ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to learn about government initiatives, digital public services and policy developments.
The choice of the Youyi Building, a major administrative hub housing several government ministries, reflects the event’s focus on promoting open dialogue, institutional accountability and direct engagement between citizens and government institutions.
The 2026 festival will feature a range of public activities, interactive sessions and engagement opportunities designed to encourage dialogue and broaden civic participation.
MOICE is encouraging members of the public, civil society organisations, youth groups and media outlets to mark their calendars ahead of the December event.
Further details on the programme schedule, exhibitor registration and attendance guidelines will be announced by the ministry closer to the event.
